Louisiana-born Chris Marks of Your Cyber Guide always wanted to work in cyber security. He shares with us that he didn’t know of a degree program for cyber security where he was from. So, he went to college, graduated, then took it upon himself to learn the skills on his own and become an expert in the field.
Chris advocates for increasing the black and brown presence in the industry while building security awareness for the green industry. People don’t look like me. So I feel that people are trying to get just dispensaries. There are other things in this green industry that we can do if you don’t want to own a dispensary. We’re talking about creating an ecosystem.
He’s now in Dallas, Texas working with small-to-medium-size cannabis companies, trying to find people who need or might not even know they need to talk security. Chris asks business owners the tough questions like:
- Are your people on your register logging in with one password? If so, why?
- Do you have an acceptable usage policy to know what they can work on and what they can not use on your internet?
